The heritage of the most diverse cultures that settled in Jerez over the centuries has left its mark on deep-rooted traditions, which endure and form an essential part of the pulse of the city itself. The extensive ancestry of cultures over time, the Phoenician Xera, the strongly Romanized Ceret or the powerful Muslim Sherisch, until the reconquest of Jerez in 1264 by Alfonso .

A walk through the center of the city, declared a Historic-Artistic Site, offers us neighborhoods with authentic tradition, hidden streets, squares and corners, where fountains and orange trees are lost among palaces, churches and wineries. The Monumental Complex of the Alcázar, the oldest Almohad building in Andalusia, located at the highest point of the city, is one of the main references of monumental Jerez.

The Municipal Archaeological Museum is one of the most relevant in the province, located in the beautiful Plaza del Mercado, next to the Riquelme Palace, very close to Bodegas Tradición, which has the impressive 'Joaquín Rivero' Collection of Spanish Painting, a true gem where you can appreciate paintings from the 14th to the 20th centuries and the masters of Spanish painting: Velázquez, Goya, El Greco, Murillo or Romero de Torres.

Another of the museum jewels of Jerez is the Palacio del Tiempo - Museos de La Atalaya which, located in a truly spectacular winery environment, is an unrivaled collection of watches.

Other museum spaces are the Carriage Museum and the Museum of Equestrian Art, both in the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art, the Cathedral Museum, the Belén Museum, the Motor Museum and the Honey and Bee Museum in Cortesano Ranch.

Religious monuments. Due to its history and beauty, it is also very interesting to know the religious architecture of Jerez. There are many churches that open their doors to visitors. The Cathedral is a mix of Gothic, Baroque and Neoclassical styles, and from whose Bell Tower you can see excellent views of the city.

In the historic center within the walls we find the churches of the four evangelists: San Marcos, San Mateos, San Lucas and San Juan, which give name to the neighborhoods where they are located. Other temples, such as San Dionisio, San Miguel or Santiago, bring us closer to the rich religious heritage of the city.

Palaces. The city offers its visitors a walking route through the center with obligatory stops at landmarks, such as the palace houses that are mainly found in its historic center. These palace houses are traces of the city's past and, for the most part, are reminiscent of the era of economic splendor brought about by the beginning of the wine industry in the 18th century, which gave rise to exquisite domestic architecture.
