Bienvenido a Whatson

The Caminito del Rey trail allows you to cross the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes along walkways attached to the rock face 100 meters above the ground, discovering hidden landscapes and breathtaking sensations.
At the beginning of the 20th century, with the industrialization of Málaga, the idea was to take advantage of the uneven ground between the entrance and exit of the Gorge to generate electricity. A precarious path attached to the rock helped with the maintenance of the water channel.
In 1953, the path was named Caminito del Rey , in memory of the visit of King Alfonso XIII to the Pantano del Chorro in 1921.
Due to its serious deterioration, entry to the Caminito was banned for safety reasons in 2000. In 2015, the restored Caminito del Rey was once again open to the public.
